The Smartest in the Room…

In his weekly column "Max's Column" for TBmagazine, Maxim Behar talks about the difficulties and changes in the Bulgarian economy and business and the only force that counts - experience.

So... "If you're the smartest person in the room, then this isn't your room."

Probably tens of thousands of people can claim to be the source of these words, but more importantly, at least ten million apply this rule.

In management, superiors like to be heard and are often quite insistent on this. Regardless of the fact that there may be far more rational and more adequate opinions "in the room". Everyone thinks that the most experienced should know how to make things happen. Probably ten years ago this might have been the golden rule of management, but not anymore.

The reason is very simple and is one of my favorite things – social media. With lightning speed, they brought a huge mass of knowledge from shared experience, from ideas and intelligent solutions. Simultaneously appeared the new generation, that can master these ideas and is often the one who can give the best solutions.

The world is full of millions of young people who are better than their best managers. You just have to find them. They are everywhere around us.

And more - invite them to your "room" and listen to them well.
