Maxim Behar Celebrates Seychelles at Africa Day

The spirit of magical Africa came to Sofia this weekend for an amazing triple celebration – Seychelles independence day, 15 years of the establishment of the consulate of Seychelles in Bulgaria and Africa day 2019. Maxim Behar, Honorary Consul General of the Republic in Seychelles in Bulgaria was one of the diplomats at the event, celebrating and taking pictures with all of the guests, always with his incomparable smile and positive attitude.

Africa Day is a worldwide annual celebration, marked in Bulgaria as well. On this day, the African countries with representations in Bulgaria honor and manifest their culture. Freshly cooked delicacies, traditional drinks, native dances and historical artifacts were exhibited to the guests to spread the African spirit. 

The Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Seychelles in Bulgaria has been a regular participant in the celebration, always with the most colorful and exotic stall that stands out among the others. This year, the consulate under the guidance of Mr. Behar, took the experience to another level, creating a huge photo wall that takes you directly on the beach of Seychelles. Furthermore, the guests of the festival had the chance to participate in an exclusive Facebook game on the consulate’s page and win a brand new Honor smartphone. 

Except for showing how a proper celebration should be held, the consulate also supported a good cause. By creating a workshop for traditional Seychelles bracelets, the team collected money for elderly people in need. The island mood was guaranteed by typical Seychelles music, flower necklaces, the unique Coco de Mer, that grows only in Seychelles, and of course thanks to Maxim Behar himself.
